Whats wrong with my chameleon?

About a week ago i noticed my chameleon cypress hadnt eaten his meal worms i just gave him (when i give him meal worms he goes straight for them). So i took a look at him and his back knees looked like they were skinned and he couldnt grip very well with his back right leg. Also the spikes on his back fell off in one spot. Ive already taken him to the vet, they gave him an antibacteriel shot and some topical cream to put on his little cuts twice a day, but i thought i'd post on here anyway for some more input. The vet said he might have gotten burned by the heat lamp.

Here are some pictures of whatever it is that happened to him. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1357775198.779205.jpg ImageUploadedByTapatalk1357775223.328719.jpg ImageUploadedByTapatalk1357775233.827483.jpg ImageUploadedByTapatalk1357775245.544662.jpg

that looks very painful. How far away is(or was) your basking branch when you suspect he was burned?

That seems about the norm. What kinda light are you using? It must produce some intense heat if he got burned like that without any actual contact to the light or screen. I have seen spikes get burned on here before and it looked pretty much like that. how long have you had him?

It's a 75 Watt bulb. I have the lamp on top resting on the screen, but I touched the screen directly under the light and it didn't burn me at all. Do chameleons have more sensitive skin? I'll take a picture of how i have the lamp set up when i get home. Also maybe he crawled onto the ceiling screen which is directly under the light?

Kevin had a thermal burn and it took a couple of rounds of antibiotics and flamazine cream to heal it up....he has an interesting scar but it is getting smaller every week....I wish you a speedy recovery!!!:)
