Wheezing/ Gasping noise veiled male

My male veiled chameleon is about 6 months old, I used to cup feed him and he would come running straight to the cup, recently he has started making strange gasping/hissing sound I would relate it to a kind of wheezing and he has become alot less friendly, when I go to feed him he will do anything in his power to run away rather than come to the cup like he used to.
He also prefers to be upside down better than anything, if that is smoething strange too.

Any suggestions on what this may be? Anything I can do to make him feel better?

To put ur mind at easy a little at about 5 months my male veiled went from sweety to butthead.. good luck on your other concerns

Thats so sad!:( He was like my little buddy! haha Do you think he will ever warm back up to me?

Gently working with him a couple times a week will help.. just make sure handling him happens on his terms.. dont force him out. And when he does come out treats and free.range galore.. he's not.gonna be ur.cuddle buddy.... Unfortunatly... But he will start to associate u with good things instead of assuming ur.king Kong

I knew getting a chameleon comes with a price of not having the closest human-pet relationship.
I was more drawn by just complete fascination!

Im still very concerned on the way he is practically wheezing, I was just feeding him and he did the gasping thing.

Do you notice any extra stringy saliva in his mouth? Does he ever hold his head straight up in the air? It is possible that he could have a respiratory infection.

Occasionally he has the stringy saliva I dont think its often enough to worry about.
and the upside down thing, I know it may sound silly but he is literally upside down 70 % of the time, its just... odd.

If he did have the infection what could I do about it?

My chameleon is about 4-5 months and is also making the wheezing sound, he only seems to make it when he's being handled. However he doesn't like to be upside down lol. I just began to notice this a week or two ago. Did your chameleon have an infection?

This thread is over two years old incase you did not notice. Wheezing is not normal. Maybe you are only hearing it when you are holding him is because he is closer for you to hear it. Does he hold his mouth open at all??

I'm sorry I didn't realize this post was that old, I'm new to the site. But no he doesn't hold open his mouth, everything else is normal. He eats, drinks, acts just like he normally does.
