You mean for the lights? The UVB light should be as long or almost as long as the cage. my cages are 24" wide, and my bulbs are 24" inside a 30" hood. It hangs over a little. I could have used a 24" hood with an 18" bulb as well and that would have fine.
Since you're using a CFL putting it under the dome would work, unless you want to go get the ReptiSun 5.0. If you get a screen cage you'll need a regular household incandescent bulb and the UVB, so that your chameleon can bask and get UVB from the one light and heat from the other.
If you put her in an adult size cage at this age, you should cup feed her and not free range the crickets. The adult size cage might be too big for her, she is quite tiny at this point. I haven't kept a chameleon that small yet. I keep mine in screen cages from LLLreptile.com They have smaller cheaper ones that you could start her in now and then get the full sized one later, and use the smaller one as an outdoor cage. The price for the two combined without shipping would probably be less than $135.
hi i have a young veiled and his cage setup is awesome but i noticed with the majesty palm it looks natural for him but also is a great plant for crickets to hide should i put the hibiscus in there instead?
You're doing good Andrew, you are listening and making changes. I know this is alot of information right now, just stay focused with the basics.
Yes, she is probably better than she was at the store, just keep making simple changes and read over and over what is being written to help you.
you are being brave and staying with this, just keep doing the good things and she will be ok, we can tell you really love her and want the best
Talk to your mom, if she can't afford to help you, pm me, ok?
Go to amazon.com they are alot cheaper there.
We are here to help, just keep working on it, ok?
Your doing good
wow 13 pages! this is crazy. i feel like everyone is telling someone how to defuse a bomb. I hope all is well with your chameleon. PM me if you have any questions regarding your chameleon. good luck
That is a good size for a small chameleon, but for an adult you would need a 24X24X48. However, you mentioned it costing over $100. You should not have to spend that much on the cage. Even the full adult size. I think my 24X24X48's cost me about $80, plus shipping since I ordered online.
If your local petstore is really selling a small reptibreeze for $135 you should find a different place.
Look at this list with your mother: https://www.chameleonforums.com/index.php?page=sponsors
It's the site sponsors here. A few of them (lllreptile, reptmart, diycages. Maybe more, I didn't check the whole list) sell screen cages and list their prices and shipping. I think it might be easier for you guys to find the right size cage for a better price if you look at those sites.
yeah dude go to amazon you get them cheap right now zoobeck has their 24*24*48 cages by zoomed for only 69.00 i just ordered 5 of them. some stores hike their prices way up but some of the sponsers here are pretty reasonable and one price i can't remember what sponser had it under a 100 including shipping.
