New Veiled Chameleon

Andrew you are very young to be taking on the care of a chameleon. Is your mom helping you out and have you had her read any of these posts? The UVB bulb you got should be ok. We would have preferred you to get the tube kind but I am glad that you got your chameleon a UVB. Are you going to get a different cage?

ok do you have anything to measure your temperatures with? How many crickets are you feeding him now a day?

yes Andrew that is the light but it is called a Reptisun and not a Reptiglo. Just watch your cham with that compact bulb you got. Make sure you don't see him closing his eyes during the day or squinting from the light. If so, then you know that the light is bothering him. Search some threads under Enclosures and Supplies to give you an idea on how to sey up a cage properly for your chameleon. Click on the green tab above that says Forums, then Enclsoures and supplies. There are lots of threads on here that can give you lots of ideas.

As bad as this seems it can be at times... This is a learning experience for a lot of people. In fact this thread can be really informational. People went over just about ALL of the basics needed in a realistic manner... And there was a good amount of "rookie" mistakes done that many other people probly do, but never post about it.

And no, he's not too young... He needs to learn by experience. Atleast he started figuring things out early, rather then when it could have gotten really bad.

well at the pet store was worse the had him and another veiled in a 10 by 5 by 5 and they never mist them and there was only 2 tiny plants so i guess you could say he is doing better then he did at the pet store

yes this is why I most likely wouldn't buy a chameleon from a pet store, I have seen a couple of "reptile" stores that did a pretty good job of keeping there's but all the ones at the chain petstores have not had the proper setup.

hopefully the mistakes that both the pet store and you have made (not being mean) have been corrected in time, just keep learning and apply what you learn.

best of luck to both of you! (you and your chameleon)

andrewthechameleon:im sure glad you found this site,it is the best in my opinion, you just keep on learning and all will be ok..dont ever be afraid to ask a question on here ok:) we are all out to help you and your cham:) so far you have come a long ways and your cham will bennefit greatly from your dedication to her..i am on this forum everyday and i always learn something new...good luck to you and your baby chameleon, she sure is cute and very tiny:D

There is a lot of hostility to an 11 year old on here. You people need to chill and if you have good advice provide it. Thanks to all those that care enough to give good advice to this kid.

Don't stop asking questions Andrew.:D
